APOLLO BEACH, Fla. – When we thank our heroes in scrubs, we also have to thank our heroes in dental gowns who are working directly in a person’s mouth, despite the pandemic.
“As an employer, my primary concern is the safety of my patients and my team. But also financially, a little shout out to all the businesses, overhead has gone up because now our gloves are on a national shortage, our masks are on a shortage. So it’s tough,” said Dr. Jason Watts DMD, owner of Watts Dental.
Adding temperature checks, face shields, air purifiers, amongst other precautions, it adds up.
But Dr. Jason Watts says you can’t put a price on giving back to those who deserve it most, which is why he’s doing his part to keep every veteran smiling.
For the third year in a row, Dr. Watts is offering free dental care to veterans.
Last year, he helped 150 veterans with more than $70,000 worth of free dental care.
“The opportunities our military gives us to have our freedom every day, it’s the least I could do to thank them,” said Dr. Watts.
It’s an act of gratitude that makes a huge difference in these veterans lives.
“A lot of times I almost want to cry, people are so nice,” said WWII veteran Maurice Lanouette when asked how it feels to see people offering events like this.
Heroes helping heroes, bringing brighter days ahead, and brighter smiles to go with it.
